Economic Development

The CAG Region was designated as a federal Economic Development District (EDD) by the U.S. Department of Commerce, Economic Development Administration in 1994.  The EDD designation permits CAG to apply for funding that would otherwise not be available, such as planning grants, technical assistance grants, public works project grants, project grants, or other funds as available. Each year, CAG staff develops a Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) document that plays an important role in the Region’s economic development efforts.  The Economic Development Department is responsible for the administration of the CAG EDD throughout Gila and Pinal counties, and maintaining the regional CEDS process.  The efforts of this district help guide the CAG Region toward job creation, economic stability and diversification, to improve the overall quality of life for residents, and enhance the local and regional tax base.  The process is overseen by a CEDS Committee, which is comprised of economic development professionals, private industry, and interested citizens who reside in the region.
