FY 2014 Economic Development Accomplishments

  • During FY 2016, CAG Staff has assisted communities throughout the Region with local and regional economic development information and assistance, and maintained ongoing liaison activities on matters pertaining to economic development. 
  • CAG has advocated for planning and project development funding to meet the economic needs of our communities with the Economic Development Administration and other State and Federal partners.
  • During FY 2016, CAG Staff has assisted communities as they consider community development infrastructure as a component of economic development business retention and attraction.
  • CAG Staff attended training for “Grant Writing” in Phoenix during September of 2015.
  • CAG Staff attended the Pinal County Town Hall in October 2015.
  • Throughout the past year, CAG Staff has continued to offer broadband planning and technical assistance to the Region.  As part of this effort, CAG Staff has participated in the Rim Country Broadband Consortium to solve redundancy issues in northern Gila County and northeastern Arizona.
  • CAG Staff has completed a five-year update of the region’s Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS), meeting new guidelines from the Economic Development Administration in partnership with the CEDS Committee and CAG communities.
  • The Economic Development Administration (EDA) requires a grant application each year in order to receive technical assistance funding.  CAG Staff completed the application and drafted financial reports and other project reports to EDA.
  • CAG participated in the Central/Eastern Arizona Roundtable, an event organized by the Arizona Association of Economic Development to address rural issues. 
  • CAG Staff attended webinars on potential grants for communities and sub-regions while providing support and technical assistance on grant applications.
  • CAG Staff prepared a Statement of Qualifications to share with local governments.
  • Met with the Arizona Economic Development Representative from the Seattle Regional Office to discuss potential projects for economic development within the CAG Region.
